history

The planning and construction of the church and the community center took place at the end of the 1970s for the immigrant Ukrainians who belong to the United Church of the Byzantine Rite in their country of origin. Grand Archbishop Jossyf Cardinal Slipyj , who visited the community in 1969, gave the impetus . In 1980 the consecration of the church could be celebrated. The church bears the patronage of all saints of the Eastern and Western Churches .

architecture

Karlheinz Bargholz designed the All Saints Church . It is a brick building on a square floor plan with an apse to the east. A flat, copper-clad dome with a cross-crowned lantern spans over it . There are large windows in the cut sides of the dome. The walls of the ground floor are only broken with narrow pairs of arched windows. A white bell stand carries the bells. The tympanum of the portal is filled with a mosaic of Christ blessing by Erentrud Trost OSB .

Interior

The interior is divided into the entrance area, the area of the faithful and by the iconostasis divided chancel . The frescoes on the ceiling are particularly noteworthy of the rich decorations : in the dome, Christ as Pantocrator , surrounded by angels, prophets and evangelists; above the altar a Maria orans with the blessing Christ child. This, as well as the rich set of icons , was created by the Serbian monk Danilo Marunić .
