The Allianz Umweltstiftung is a non-profit foundation that was established in 1990 by Allianz AG on the occasion of the centenary and endowed with foundation capital of 100 million DM. The foundation was based in Munich until 2012. After that, the seat was moved to the Allianz-Forum on Pariser Platz in Berlin.

Funding profile

Above all, the foundation supports projects that not only focus on nature or the environment, but also include people and their needs and aim to achieve a sustainable improvement in the environment. Projects funded by the foundation are intended to link environmental aspects with social, cultural and educational issues. In addition, the foundation focuses on promoting model projects in which research is put into practice, thus further developing nature conservation and environmental protection.

The defined funding areas in which the funded projects are based are:

In addition to pure project funding, the Allianz Umweltstiftung also takes the initiative to implement its goals.

Action Blue Eagle

The Blue Eagle campaign is a nationwide campaign by the Allianz Umweltstiftung. In this campaign, clubs, institutions, school classes etc. have the opportunity to implement an environmental project together with an Allianz agency, the foundation supporting the project with a maximum of 2250 euros. Above all, the campaign promotes projects in which a responsible approach to nature is in the foreground and a basis of voluntary commitment is available.

Since the start in 1995, over 4,700 projects have been implemented as part of the Blauer Adler campaign, including greening schoolyards, designing playgrounds and parks, providing environmental education and implementing many other ideas.

Benediktbeurer Talks

Benediktbeuern Monastery

The Benediktbeurer Talks are a symposium that has been held annually since 1997 with the aim of creating an independent, non-denominational and non-partisan forum for the discussion of fundamental environmental issues. At the spring event in Benediktbeuern, Upper Bavaria, scientists and politicians, managers from business and culture, representatives of environmental associations and the press meet to exchange ideas.

The venue is the Center for Environment and Culture of the Benediktbeuern Monastery . At the same time as the event, the results will be published as a series of publications.

German climate award

The foundation initiated the “German Climate Prize” to honor the commitment of schoolchildren and teachers to climate protection. The winners will be determined in a Germany-wide competition. The German Climate Prize of the Allianz Umweltstiftung is awarded annually and consists of five equal awards, each endowed with 10,000 euros. In addition, 15 recognition prizes of 1,000 euros each will be awarded.
