Esra Küçük (* 1983 in Hamburg ) is a German-Turkish social scientist who has been managing director of the Allianz Kulturstiftung since summer 2018 . The Manager magazine she is one of the "leading young intellectuals" in Germany.

Career

Esra Küçük was born in 1983 to a Macedonian mother and a Turkish father who had come to Germany as part of labor migration or as their second generation, and grew up in Hamburg-Fischbek . After graduating from high school, she studied in Münster and at the Institut d'Études Politiques in Lille as well as political science at Stanford University . She obtained her master's degree in European Studies from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.

After completing her studies, she worked for the German Society for Foreign Policy and completed a two-year management trainee program at the Mercator Foundation in Essen. In 2012 she was the personal assistant to the management at the Advisory Council of German Foundations for Integration and Migration . She was also a research assistant at the Institute for Social Sciences at Berlin's Humboldt University .

2010/2011 initiated Küçük the establishment of the national dialogue forum Young Islam Conference , bringing them to the book creates Germany off by Thilo Sarrazin responded. She has been a member of the Pro Helvetia Board of Trustees since 2020 .

Since 2018 she has headed the Allianz Kulturstiftung as a managing member of the Board of Trustees; In June 2020 she also took on - provisionally - operational responsibility on the board of the Allianz Umweltstiftung .

The business magazine Capital named Küçük 2016 the “Young Elite 2016” in the annual selection “TOP 40 under 40” in the field of government, science and civil society in Germany.
