The Allianz Kulturstiftung is a non-profit foundation that was established by Allianz AG in 2000 . The foundation, endowed with foundation capital of 51 million euros, formed the Munich Foundation Center together with the Allianz Environmental Foundation, which was established in 1990, until 2012 . The Munich Foundation Center has been integrated into the Allianz Foundation Forum Pariser Platz since 2012 , which is why the Allianz Kulturstiftung moved its headquarters from Munich to Berlin .

The foundation primarily supports young academics and artists in cross-border educational and cultural projects that are intended to support a European identity. She also runs her own operational projects with a focus on European educational work, the translation of literature, new music and contemporary art. Particularly cross-genre or cross-media, contemporary concepts are to be funded. The funding applications sent to the foundation are discussed by an interdisciplinary board of trustees and, if necessary, passed on to the foundation council for a decision, which makes a final decision.

The foundation is a member of the European Movement Network .

Event series

Talk about Europe

The discussion series “Talking about Europe” is an operational project of the foundation and began in 2006 in the Munich Residenztheater as a reaction to the rejection of the planned EU constitution in the Netherlands and France. The event is supposed to deal with the alleged lack of closeness to the citizens, the bureaucracy and the so-called democratic deficit, which remain latent criticisms of the European Union. The aim of the Allianz Kulturstiftung and its cooperation partners ( Staatsoper Berlin , Komische Oper Berlin , rbb and the European Movement Network Germany ) contribute to the creation of a European public , where important issues of European unification can be publicly debated. For the foundation, Europe remains a future project that can only be given the necessary basis and legitimation by a European civil society .

"The White Sea"

The White Sea - Literatures around the Mediterranean is a series of events organized by the foundation that illuminates the cultural area of the Mediterranean world with its history and its present, which is characterized by contrasts. There are writers invited from different generations from this region to conduct a dialogue on connections and divisions of their common transnational heritage.
