Alligator Sky is a song by the US pop band Owl City . There are four versions of the song, one with BoB , one with Shawn Chrystopher , one with Big Boi and one without rap. The song was first released on March 18, 2011 and is the first released single from Owl City's album All Things Bright and Beautiful . The song was remixed by Long Lost Sun , among others .

background

Young told AOL that he was a big fan of hip-hop and its ingredients and that he had experimented with different sounds. He would have wanted to combine hip-hop with a strong bass and a catchy melody in the song in order to make the title appear independent and different from Owl City's last publication.

Music video

In the official music video, which was first released on YouTube on April 29, 2012 and belongs to the version with Chrystopher, you mainly see Shawn Chrystopher walking through an empty, dilapidated city in a space suit. Adam Young from Owl City, also in a space suit, also plays a role. Steve Hoover directed the video, Brandon Bonfiglio and Danny Yourd produced it.

reception

Charts

The single was not very successful, it only reached the German Airplay Charts (number 68), the German Youth Airplay Charts (number 17) and the Danish Airplay Charts, where it reached number eleven.

criticism

The song received various reviews. Ulf Kubanke from laut.de thinks that Alligator Sky would like “pop listeners in front of the car radio”, Scott Fryberger from jesusfreakhideout.com explains that it sounds a lot like Fireflies and that he likes it, but doesn't think it's great .
