Almnüsse (mundartlich Almnussen ) are an aromatic, sweet donuts .

The pastries were specially made by women farmers in the Bavarian mountains during the autumn cattle drive . Today it is a rediscovered specialty in Bavaria and Austria . The ingredients vary depending on the region. An original recipe from 1948 from Oberwössen in Chiemgau consists of flour , eggs , sugar , cream , baking powder , quark and a cinnamon and sugar mixture.

These days, alpine nuts are often eaten with afternoon coffee .
