Alnwick was a district in the county of Northumberland in England . The administrative seat was the city of the same name Alnwick . The district also included the places Amble and Rothbury .
The district was formed on April 1, 1974 and was formed from the merger of the urban districts Alnwick and Amble and the rural districts Amble and Rothbury. On April 1, 2009, in addition to Alnwick, all other districts in Northumberland were abolished and united in the new Northumberland Unitary Authority .
