The Aloha Tower has welcomed arriving ships in Honolulu Harbor since 1926. In the 1920s and 1930s, passengers were welcomed by the locals on so-called “Boat Day” with lei wreaths , music and the hula dance . At that time, the square tower, which owes its name to the ALOHA lettering above the tower clocks, was the tallest building in Hawaii . The landmark Honolulu has a visitor platform on the top floor from which one has a view over the harbor. Today many shops, stalls, restaurants and cafes have clustered adjacent to the tower.
On May 13, 1976, the tower was added to the National Register of Historic Places as a monument.
