Alois Brandl (politician)

Alois Brandl (born May 24, 1864 in Eisenerz (Styria) , † February 6, 1926 in Linz ) was an Austrian master baker and Christian social politician.

Life

Brandl was the son of an innkeeper, but became a baker. In 1891 he founded a bakery on Grünauergasse in Linz and later bought the Weißmannsche bakery on Bismarckstraße. He had been married to Maria Pröll since 1891 and had six children. His son Franz Brandl was a member of the National Council from 1945 to 1949.

From 1902 to 1925 he was a councilor in the Chamber of Commerce , from 1909 to 1919 a councilor in Linz. In 1911 he was elected to the Austrian Reichsrat and was a member of it until 1914. From 1918 to 1920 he was a member of the Provisional and Constituent National Assemblies .
