Alois Grebien
Alois Grebien (born April 24, 1879 in Graz , † December 21, 1950 in Wagna ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and official of the ÖBB . From 1947 to 1949 he was a member of the Austrian National Council .
Life
After attending compulsory school, Grebien learned the trade of a locksmith and worked in South America, Australia and Africa after completing his apprenticeship. After returning to Austria, he worked as a federal civil servant. Due to his political commitment, he was charged with treason as a result of the Austrian Civil War in 1934. After the National Socialists came to power, he was imprisoned several times between 1938 and 1942 in Gestapo custody and between 1943 and 1945 in Dachau concentration camp . Within the party, Grebien was active as district chairman of the SPÖ Leibnitz. He represented the SPÖ between October 8, 1947 and November 8, 1949 in the National Council.
