Alois Janak

Alois Janak (born February 20, 1896 in Steyr , Upper Austria; † August 12, 1959 there ) was an Austrian worker and politician .

Life

After attending the elementary and community school, Janak became a milling cutter in the Steyr works. From 1917 he took part in the World War and was taken prisoner in Italy in 1918, from which he did not return until the summer of 1919. He then worked again in the Steyr works and joined the Heimwehr in 1929 . In 1934 he joined the economic advisory board, became a works council and finally a central works council of the Steyr-Werke . Until 1936 he was also Vice Mayor of Steyr and from 1934 to 1936 a member of the state parliament . He played a major role in the clashes between Christian trade unionists and those who had emerged from the Home Guard.
