Alois Matthias Mayrhofer

Alois Matthias Mayrhofer (born October 9, 1764 in St. Pölten ; † December 30, 1842 there ) was an Austrian politician and 5th mayor of St. Pölten.

Life

The son of a shoemaker was born on October 9, 1764 in St. Pölten. Through marriage in 1796 he became the owner of a paper mill in Wagram , which he sold in 1803 or 1805. He sold a flour mill that he had built on the neighboring property in 1828 and from then on lived as a private owner on his assets.

Mayrhofer's political activity began in 1816 when he was elected to the magistrate's council. He remained so until his appointment as mayor in 1833. Towards the end of his term of office, he was no longer able to attend the council meetings due to illness, but remained in office until his death on December 30, 1842.
