Playa de Alojera

Alojera is a district of the municipality of Vallehermoso in the west of the Canary island of La Gomera .

The approx. 100 houses of Alojera are grouped extensively around a plaza at approx. 250 m above sea level with a small church, a school and a bar. To the east a 1000 m high steep rock face rises. The road from Vallehermoso leads over the mountain village of Epina past two wind turbines and the old cemetery to the first district of "El Mono". From there, a cul-de-sac leads up to the plaza at an intersection.

A road leads about 1 km further to "Playa de Alojera".

After approx. 500 m, a small road branches off to the right into the district of Honduras and then continues on to Tazo via a track that is difficult to drive after rainfalls.

In Playa de Alojera the road ends in a few parking spaces above the bay. The bay is semicircular and consists of black sand and rubble. There are numerous nested houses and apartments on the waterfront, as well as the El Prisma and Brisas del Mar restaurants.

Alojera is a center for palm honey production on the island of La Gomera.

Due to its special geographical location, Alojera is a valley in the north of Gomera with comparatively many hours of sunshine per year.
