Aloysius Bellecius

Aloysius Bellecius SJ (born February 15, 1704 in Freiburg im Breisgau , † April 27, 1757 in Augsburg ) was a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

He joined the Jesuits in 1719. During his life as a Jesuit, Bellecius worked in various positions: for some time he trained missionaries who went to India. Bellecius later himself spent four years in the Jesuit mission in Marañón. After his return from Peru, Bellecius became director of the Jesuit seminary in Porrentruy in the diocese of Basel. In 1750 he became professor of theology at the university in his hometown of Freiburg. In 1752 he became a teacher at the Jesuit school in Ebersberg. In 1755 Bellecius went to Augsburg, where he worked as a pastor until his death in 1757.
