Alpine marathon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alpenmarathon (official name AlpenMarathon - Marathon des Alpages ) is a marathon between Anzère and Leukerbad that has been taking place in August since 2005. The program also includes a half marathon , which replaces the 24 km run held in the first year.

The mountain marathon-like route first leads from Anzère north to Lac de Tseuzier and from there to Crans-Montana , where the half marathon starts. From there it goes up to Varneralp and on the west side of the Dala valley above Inden to Leukerbad. The marathon has to deal with 1500 vertical meters uphill and 1650 vertical meters downhill, with the half marathon 900 uphill and 1025 downhill.
