The AlphaServer was a line of servers with an Alpha processor , marketed by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC), later by Compaq, and then HP . The counterpart to the AlphaServer was the AlphaStation for workstations with an Alpha processor.

In April 1994, the successor to the DEC 2000 AXP appeared with the DEC 2100 A500MP . In November 1994 DEC introduced the name AlphaServer together with the AlphaStation and subsequently incorporated the DEC 2100 A500MP under the new name AlphaServer 2100 4/200 together with new models. Supported operating systems were Tru64 UNIX , OpenVMS and up to the year 2000 also Windows NT . There are also ports of Linux and BSD-based operating systems ( FreeBSD , NetBSD , OpenBSD ) for the AlphaServer.

HP produced AlphaServers until 2007, until 2010 "completely overhauled" AlphaServers from HP were still available. Technical support ran until 2012.
