In the 1972/1973 season of the Alpine Skiing Opportunity Cup , 38 races (9 downhill runs , 15 giant slaloms and 14 slaloms ) were planned for men and 32 races (9 downhill runs, 11 giant slaloms and 12 slaloms) for women. In contrast to the first event in the previous year , the allocation of points was adapted to the World Cup and points were awarded for the first ten runners according to the scheme 25-20-15-11-8-6-4-3-2-1. The five best results from each discipline were taken into account for the overall ratings.
