Ateliers Déchamps was a Belgian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The SA des Atelier HP Déchamps was founded in Brussels in 1898. The plant was located on Boulevard Baudouin in Brussels . The vehicles offered were marketed as Déchamps. On December 31, 1899, the company was renamed SA des Moteurs et Automobiles Déchamps . The brand name Déchamps was used until January 1904. The successor models were marketed under the Baudouin brand. The Société de Construction Mécaniques et d'Automobiles was located in the same building and manufactured automobiles under the brand name Direct between 1904 and 1905 .

The models

In 1899 the first motorized vehicle was presented. It was a tricycle with a De Dion-Bouton engine that developed 1.75  hp . In 1900, this tricycle also had its own engine with an output of 2.75 hp. A tricycle has been preserved and could be viewed in the Autotron Rosmalen in Rosmalen , the Netherlands .

A four-wheeled Voiturette followed in 1899, the two-cylinder engine of which was located in the rear and made 3 hp.

In 1900 the two-cylinder model 4.5 CV and the four-cylinder model 8 CV came out.

In 1901 the 6 CV with a single-cylinder engine and 6 HP, the 12 CV with a two-cylinder engine and 12 HP and the 20 CV with a four-cylinder engine and 20 HP came onto the market.

In 1902 the range was expanded to include the 7 CV models with a single-cylinder engine and 7 HP, 8 CV with a two-cylinder engine and 8 HP, 14 CV with a four-cylinder engine, 4398 cm³ displacement and 14 HP, and 16 CV with a four-cylinder engine and 16 HP.

From 1903 to January 1904 there was the two-cylinder model 9/10 CV with 2199 cm³ displacement and the four-cylinder model 18 CV with 5026 cm³ displacement and 18 hp.
