Fondu was a Belgian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
In 1906, Usines Fondu from Vilvoorde started producing automobiles. The developer of the automobiles was the Swiss Julien Potterat . Potterat left the company in 1908 and went to Russo-Balt . Production at Fondu ended in 1921.
vehicles
The first model was the 1 CHF , also called the 20/24 CV , which was powered by a four-cylinder engine with a 3770 cm³ displacement and had a cardan drive. In 1907 the model was replaced by the 24/30 CV , whose four-cylinder engine had a displacement of 4503 cm³. In addition, there was the large six-cylinder model 50 CV from 1907 to around 1908 . In 1912, smaller four-cylinder models with 1131 cm³ displacement, 1690 cm³ displacement and 2120 cm³ displacement came onto the market. After the First World War , a few four-cylinder models 8/10 CV were still produced.
One vehicle still exists today and can be viewed at the Autoworld Brussels car museum in Brussels .
License production
- Russo-Balt manufactured the 24/30 CV model under license.
Parts sales
Fondu also produced and sold parts to other automobile manufacturers such as Elgé , FIF , Hermes , Linon , SAVA and Turner .
