Scaldia was a Belgian assembly company for automobiles . The brand names were Scaldia , Moskvitch and Volga .
Company history
The company Sobimpex NV from Brussels signed a contract in 1959 with the Ministry responsible for the production of Moskvich and Volga in Moscow and began producing automobiles in Antwerp in 1960 . In 1965 the company was renamed Scaldia-Volga SA. Later, the import of Saporoshez vehicles, which were sold as Yalta and ZAZ , as well as Lada began . Production ended in 1980.

The company obtained vehicles from the original manufacturers from the Soviet Union that were missing the engine and the gearbox was not installed.
Moskvich
The Moskvich-408 received a diesel engine from Perkins with 1620 cm³ displacement and 43 hp .
Volga
The GAZ M-21 Volga was available from 1962. He also received the diesel engine from Perkins. From 1964 a Rover diesel engine with 2286 cm³ displacement and 65 hp was available, later also a Peugeot diesel engine . The successor model GAZ-24 Volga was also assembled in Belgium. A version for liquid gas was also shown at the 1971 Brussels Motor Show .
