Alstom Coradia Meridian

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alstom Coradia Meridian is the name of various local multiple units that were specially developed for the Italian market. They belong to the Alstom Coradia family of vehicles from the manufacturer of Alstom and were built between 2003 and 2019 at various production sites in Italy.

The modular multiple units are used throughout Italy by the state-owned Trenitalia and numerous other private railway companies . Trenitalia maintains a large part of the vehicle fleet under the brand names "Minuetto" and "Jazz" .

The production of the Coradia Meridian ended in July 2019 with the delivery of the last Jazz multiple unit, the successor being the Alstom Coradia Stream .

Vehicle generations

Overall, the Coradia Meridian can be divided into three vehicle generations:

1st generation

The first generation was from 2003-2010 and comprised almost 250 three-part electric and diesel -powered multiple units. The trains that were used at Trenitalia were given the brand name Minuetto.
