The Nederlandse Spoorwegen ordered 79 Coradia Stream trains in July 2016. The so-called “Intercity Nieuwe Generatie” trains are expected to travel at a maximum speed of 200 km / h on the Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Breda route and in the The Hague – Eindhoven corridor. Commercial operation is planned for 2021. The trains can run at 25 kV AC (high-speed lines) and 1.5 kV DC (conventional network) and are equipped with the ATB and ETCS train control systems. In August 2019, the order for 18 additional railcars worth 200 million euros was announced. These multi-system vehicles are to run on the Intercity Direct line to Brussels from 2025 and are tailored to both the Dutch (1.5 kV DC / 25 kV AC) and the Belgian power grid (3 kV DC / 25 kV AC). They will complement the vehicle fleet of two trains that had already been ordered in 2017 for test purposes. The eight-car trains are 165 meters long and can be coupled so that they can achieve a higher capacity than the combination of a Bombardier Traxx locomotive and seven passenger cars. In addition, they have a larger luggage compartment and an additional toilet and also meet the Belgian safety requirements. On May 23, 2020, the first ICNG, the one with the series number 3108, a 5-part ICNG, reached the Netherlands. Since June 5, 2020, test drives have been carried out with the multiple unit 3103 in the Netherlands, which was transferred to the Onnen depot the day before.

Furnishing

The five-part ICNG has a wheelchair-accessible standard toilet, the one with eight parts has two. Both are equipped with the OBIS and three zones each: a quiet zone, a work zone and a conversation zone. Both classes, first and second class, contain electrical outlets, free Wi-Fi and USB sockets.

In August 2016, Trenitalia awarded Alstom a blanket order for the delivery of 150 Coradia trains. The Coradia Stream is called "Pop" by the Italian railway company and is being constructed for local operation in various Italian regions. It should have a modular structure and thus be easier to adapt to different needs. This solution is adapted to various configurations and capacity requirements for regional and local transport.

In June 2019, the first three of a total of 47 trains for service in the Emilia-Romagna region began operating.
