The Alstom Prima EL3U / 4 is an electric locomotive from the French Alstom Prima multi-system vehicle family intended for use in freight train services .
It was designed in such a way that the acquisition and maintenance costs for the railway companies are as low as possible. The locomotives are multi-system capable and can be used with three different power systems. At the SNCF they are classified as type BB 37000 .
Duration
Of the 60 machines in the BB 37000 series delivered to SNCF, the BB 37007 had to be retired in 2006 after an accident. In addition, 31 machines of the identical E 37500 series were delivered to the private Veolia and CB Rail . Due to their multi-system suitability, these machines are regularly used with freight trains to and from Germany.
