The Altıgöz Köprüsü (German Altıgöz Bridge ) is a stone arch bridge from the time of the Rum Seljuks . It is located near the Afyonkarahisar train station in the Çetinkaya district, north and at the foot of the Cirit rock. The bridge crosses a small river called Akarçay . The Turkish name means "six arch bridge".
The building inscription of the bridge is written in an intricate and difficult to read Thuluth script . Accordingly, an emir named Ebû Vefâ İlyas b. Oğuz, who probably belonged to the Aq Qoyunlu , built the bridge. Stones from the Prymnessos theater were probably used in the construction. In 1209/1210 the son of the builder Sipâhsâlâr Ebû Hâmid Hacı Mehmed b. İlyas repair the bridge. The bridge is 44 m long and has six arches. The most recent restoration took place in 1985. The inscription plaque that had since fallen into the river and then taken to the museum was reinstalled.
A Byzantine building inscription built into one of the bridge piers could indicate a previous Byzantine bridge, but it could also come from another building.
