history
The Alte Jülicher Straße is an ancient path that formerly connected the ancestral seat of the Jülich counts and dukes with the residence in Nideggen . At that time, the north-south axis of the city of Düren was defined by the Wirteltor over the main market and by the Oberstraße . On the city map from 1882, the street is referred to as leading to Stammeln ( Huchem-Stammeln ). Road expansion began in 1881.
