Old school

The old school with the address Am Pferdskopf 2 was built in 1846 as a town hall, but never used as such, but operated as a dwarf school from December 11, 1860 . Before the school existed, the children of the village attended school in Finsternthal . In 1965 the school was closed. Today the children attend primary school in Riedelbach or Arnoldshain . The school consisted of the teacher's apartment on the ground floor and the classroom on the first floor. In 1860 15 children were educated. The highest number of pupils was reached in 1904/04 with 25 children, the lowest in 1885/86 with three children. The half-timbered house is the only building in Treisberg that is under monument protection (see theList of cultural monuments in Treisberg ). In front of the old school there is a cast-iron fountain typical of the Taunus .

The old school in Treisberg is used by the Heimatverein today.

Construction year

The year of construction is controversial. The Heimatverein financed a dendrochronological study of one of the oldest beams in the house. This resulted in a use as construction timber from the years 1737 or 1738. This suggests that the building is older, but the beams may also have originally been used in another building. In the Treisberger Landbuch from 1774 a town hall is mentioned, the floor plan of which corresponds to that of the current building.
