Max Ernst School

Max Ernst School
Village community

In the northwest of Riedelbach is the Max Ernst School of the community of Weilrod. This is a secondary and secondary school with attached afternoon care. In 1967 the school center "Weil-Ems" was built with a primary and secondary school with a special level and a gym. From 2005 to 2008, extensive extensions and renovations were carried out on the building complex. On September 6th, 2008 the official inauguration ceremony of the new school and the name change of the secondary and secondary school to "Max-Ernst-Schule" took place.

Primary school "Am Sommerberg"

The primary school was built in 1967 as the “Weil-Ems” school center. In 1972 this became independent. In 1995 the expansion began and in 1997 the inauguration and new name for the Riedelbach Primary School took place. In 2000 the new sports hall was inaugurated and an educational afternoon program was introduced in 2007. Gliding

To the north of the village is the Riedelbach glider airfield (514 m MSL). The area is thus one of the highest flying areas in Hesse. The place is operated by the Sportfliegerclub Riedelbach eV There is mostly glider operations with the club's own gliders and the club's own motor glider . The place has a winch type "Tost" for the winch start , which has around 1000 m of cable extension.

On the wooded Feldberg-Langhals-Pferdskopf-Scholle in the northwest , in the area between Riedelbach (south), Dombach (west) and Cratzenbach (northeast), on the side of the historic Rennstrasse , construction work began in February 2014 for the construction of 7  wind turbines (WEA ) of the type Nordex N117 / 2400 from the manufacturer Nordex SE , with a maximum height of 199 m. WEA 7 was built around 900 m southeast of the Eichelbacher Hof . Three more wind turbines (1-3) were built to the west in the immediate vicinity of the Daubhaus , which is located in a side valley of the Dombachtal . For the locations of these wind turbines, larger gray rock walls had to be removed on the Sommerberg . ABO Wind AG from Wiesbaden acted as project developer and general contractor .

As is usual with such wind energy projects in forest landscapes, larger forest areas were deforested for the 7 wind turbines with the use of wood harvesters and then cleared . In addition, the Rennstraße and the existing forest paths to the side were converted into construction roads for the transport of the building materials and system components , and the underground cables to the individual wind turbines were laid alongside the construction roads .

80 percent of the wind farm is owned by Wiesbaden-based ABO Invest AG, which markets itself as a "community wind share" and in which, according to its own statements, around 5,000 shareholders are involved. The yield data of the Weilrod wind farm are available on the Internet . According to the forecast, the wind farm should produce 49 million kilowatt hours of electricity in an average wind year . In 2015 the forecast was narrowly missed and in 2016 it was clearly missed.
