Mauloff is a district of the community Weilrod in the Hessian Hochtaunuskreis .
geography
Mauloff is located in the eastern Hintertaunus in the Taunus Nature Park . The quiet village is located on a plateau of the so-called horse's head plaice . The Klirrbach rises a little below the village. The highest mountain in the district, at 626 meters above sea level , is just under a kilometer southwest of the town, on Rennstrasse .
Neighboring towns are Reichenbach (southwest), Riedelbach (north), Finsternthal (northeast) and Seelenberg (south).
history
The first documentary mention of this place as Mulefo was made in a deed of donation from the Benedictine monk monastery of Walsdorf (near Bad Camberg ) to the Archdiocese of Mainz . Archbishop Arnold von Mainz reported that in 1156 the monastery and all of its goods had been given the protection and obedience of the Archdiocese of Mainz for an annual fee . In the listing of the monastery's possessions, Mauloff was also listed with an area of 30 manses (approx. 900 acres ).
When the County of Diez was pledged to von Cronberg in 1317 , the name Mauloff reappeared.
At the end of the 14th century there were repeated disputes and fights between the city of Frankfurt am Main and the Lords of Hattstein , from which Mauloff also suffered, as Hattstein Castle was located between Arnoldshain and Reifenberg in the neighborhood.
The Hattsteiner owned the tithe to Mauloff in the following centuries .
In 1439 the lords of Reifenberg , relatives of the Hattsteiners, brought goods to Mauloff from the Walsdorf monastery .
In 1457 the Counts von Katzenelnbogen moved Hubenhafer from the high place.
In 1479 the same family received Bede -, Weide and camp money from Mauloff and Steinfischbach in the Altweilnau office .
There is a description of the limits of the Altweilnau office from 1482. In this description there are still many field names in Mauloff that exist today. In the Hatsstein tithe registers from the period 1500–1560, the tithe author Peter Marckel von Mauloff is mentioned in 1504.
From the / n? Church inventories drawn up in 1526? it turns out that Mauloff had to deliver 12 Malter , half grain and half oats to the Steinfischbach church.
In 1606 the village had 14 households, about 70 inhabitants.
The village suffered a lot during the Thirty Years' War .
In 1633 Mauloff and Riedelbach form a court together. It is reported that a court seal is no longer there. Towards the end of the 18th century a new seal appeared, the stamp of which is still in the State Archives. It shows a chapel with a tower in a front view in an oval seal field (25 × 29 mm). The inscription is "GEMEINDE MAULOFF". The chapel, which is so important for the village on the coat of arms, is only documented in 1703.
In 1682, the Usingen bailiff Schmidtborn bought the former Hattstein slopes in the village. Prince Walrad von Nassau-Usingen acquired parts of this tithe in 1698. We know from the first half of the 18th century that sheep were raised, because the church book responsible for Mauloff mentions many shepherds.
On March 12th, 1774 there was a severe hailstorm, as can be seen from a supplik of the municipality of April 4th, 1778 about the decree of the kitchen wood delivery. The community gave 14 acres of forest at the “Grindtschiebel” to the state (i.e. the Principality of Nassau-Usingen ) to settle the kitchen wood delivery debts and for future deliveries . On November 16, 1781, the final transfer of ownership of the forest area in the Mauloff district took place, which is still the " state forest " today.
Mauloff lived through the Napoleonic period and the Wars of Liberation as well as the beginning of the Duchy of Nassau like the towns of the Usinger Land .
When the municipalities had to make suggestions for a seal in 1817/18, the Mauloffer mayor asked for a picture of a church with a tower, based on the model of the 18th century, similar to what is shown today.
In 1840 the tithe replacement was carried out in Nassau . With this change, Mauloff had a capital of 4,950 florins ( guilders ).
Until 1891 Mauloff belonged to a syringe association together with Riedelbach and Neuweilnau , from which, however, one left on July 19, 1891. Until 1932 there was a compulsory fire brigade. On December 15, 1932, the Mauloff volunteer fire brigade was founded, the first in command of which was Otto Steinmetz.
The shooting club "Lützow" Mauloff was founded in 1920.
The water supply in the village came from wooden running wells. In the second half of the 19th century these were replaced by cast iron fountains . Two of these wells have been preserved to this day. The first aqueduct in the village was built in 1904 and there was electric light since 1921.
The village streets were paved for the first time in 1950. The community built the village community center with the help of the state government in 1956.
Territorial reform
On 1 December 1970, Mauloff concluded in the course of administrative reform in Hesse with Riedelbach, Altweilnau, Neuweilnau and Finsterthal voluntarily to the new community Weilnau together . This municipality was merged with other municipalities to form the new municipality of Weilrod on August 1, 1972 due to the "law for the restructuring of the Obertaunuskreis and the district of Usingen". Local districts with local advisory councils and local heads were set up for the former municipalities .
