Winden is a district of the community of Weilrod in the Hochtaunuskreis in southern Hesse .

geography

Winden is located in the Weiltal of the eastern Hintertaunus, right on the border of the Hochtaunuskreis and the Limburg-Weilburg district in the Taunus Nature Park . The state road L3025 leads through the village.

Neighboring towns are Langenbach (northwest), Audenschmiede (north), Heinzenberg (east) and Emmershausen (southwest).

history

The history of Winden goes back to the year 1370 at the latest, when the place first appeared in written records. As early as 1302, however, Winden was mentioned as belonging to the Altweilnau lordship. The place was part of the early iron processing quarter on the Weil: For the 15th century, a forest smithy is documented as a fiefdom of Count von Diez .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipalities of Winden, Rod an der Weil and other municipalities merged on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis to form the municipality of Rod an der Weil, before this municipality on August 1, 1972 with several previously independent municipalities a state law was merged to form the community of Weilrod.

Infrastructure

The place is divided by the Weiltalstraße into the upper and lower villages. The Schützenhaus is located directly on Weiltalstrasse in Oberdorf . Further above is the fire station and the village community center . A cast iron fountain from 1895 decorates the square in front of the fire station.
