School history

Originally the children from Finsternthal were educated in Altweilnau, to whose parish Finsternthal belonged. In 1691 it was unusually approved that a woman should teach in Finsternthal: Anna Maria Lehr, the wife of mayor Johannes Lehr. The name of the teacher Georg Philipp Fischer has been passed down from 1749. In 1817 Mauloff, Treisberg and Finsternthal formed a school association and built a joint school in Finsternthal in 1822/23. In 1846 Treisberg built a school and, like Mauloff, left the school association. In 1939 the school in Finsterntal was closed and in 1943 the school association was renewed due to the low number of pupils. After the war, the school in Finsternthal was reopened. The school reform of 1964 ended the school history in Finsternthal. Now the children visited the central elementary school in Rod an der Weil and the secondary schools in Riedelbach, Usingen and Neu-Anspach. The school building in the street Am Borngarten was used from 1977 as a restaurant "Zur alten Schule" and is now a residential building.

traffic

Finsterthal is from the west ( Idstein , Bad Camberg , Niedernhausen , Bundesautobahn 3 ), East ( Usingen , Bad Nauheim , National Highway 5 ) and the South ( Frankfurt , Bad Homburg , Oberursel , Federal Highway 661 ) through the federal highway 275 to reach, which runs through the neighboring Riedelbach . From the main town of Weilrod, the Weiltalstrasse (here Landstrasse 3025) leads past Finsternthal. Finsternthal itself is not on any major traffic artery and therefore has little through traffic.

Coming from the southwest, the Hochtaunusstraße runs on the B 275. At Altweilnau- Landstein, about two kilometers northeast of Finsternthal, the federal road meets the Deutsche Alleenstraße , which now follows the course of the B 275, but the Hochtaunusstraße continues from this point on Highway 3041 eastwards.

Bus 82 runs from Riedelbach via Finsternthal every two hours to the train station [Neu-Anspach] Monday to Friday. In the evenings and on weekends, the place can only be reached with a collective taxi (AST82).
