The former Deutsche Hof in Finsternthal was an inn and is now a listed building .

history

In the place of the current building in the center (address: Landsteiner Straße 5) of the small village Finsternthal (a district of the community Weilrod im Hochtaunus ) there was previously a country inn that was demolished as part of the new building. In 1865 Gottfried Leher (1817–1895) built the current building as an agricultural farm with an attached restaurant and guest rooms. After the builder's death, his son Gottlieb Leher took over the property. In the 1920s he expanded and modernized the German court. The five guest rooms received running water and toilets.

On March 31, 1945, the US Army captured Finsternthal. During the fighting, the place was shot at and the roof of the Deutsches Hof was destroyed. After the reconstruction, the Deutsche Hof was used as an inn until 1993. Today the house is used for private purposes.

building

The building is a listed building both as part of the overall Alt-Finsternthal complex and as an individual property. It is located at the intersection of the town's two main traffic axes. Together with the old town hall , it forms the head of the central square of the place created at the intersection. The main building is the corner house Landsteiner Straße / Schmittener Straße. It is a two-storey plastered building with a hipped roof and a facade structured by five-axis (Schmittener Strasse) or six-axis (Landsteiner Strasse) windows. The entrance can be reached from Landsteiner Straße via steps. The wooden main door dates from the construction period and bears the name of the client Gottfried Lehr and, in wrought iron, the year of construction 1865.

In addition to the main building, a number of outbuildings belong to the property, which are grouped around a courtyard. The closed courtyard is accessed via a gate from Landsteiner Strasse.
