Hans Kummerer

Life

Hans Kummerer came from a farming family from Hipples , District Korneuburg . He spent his childhood and adolescence in his parents' house. At the age of 21 he volunteered for the military band of " Hoch- und Deutschmeister " No. 4, Kapellmeister Karl Pauspertl. He then served in the music corps of Infantry Regiment 134 of the 44th Infantry Division (high and German masters) of the Wehrmacht under Kapellmeister Wilhelm Wacek until the end of the war. The war years and the ensuing Soviet imprisonment , from which he returned in 1947, also restricted his creative urge for him. This point in time or period was probably the decisive turning point in his life. From now on he could devote himself entirely to music, his real purpose in life.

When it was founded, he joined the Guard Music Vienna in March 1956 , under Kapellmeister Gustav Gaigg and Dr. Hodik, of which he belonged until 1972. When he was transferred to the Bolfraskaserne in Mistelbach , he moved from Hipples to Wilfersdorf . He served here from 1964 to 1979, the year he retired .

After his retirement he spent his life together with his wife Johanna and his 5 children in Wilfersdorf, where he died on October 12, 1993 and was buried in the local village cemetery.

Services

At the age of eight he took violin lessons from an uncle. From the age of 12 he worked in the church choir of his home parish. In addition, he learned the bass flugelhorn and at the age of 15 played in a rural farmer's and Kirtag music band. In later years, as a member of the military band, there was also the opportunity to learn his favorite instrument, the trombone , and to take his first steps as a composer .

As soon as he settled down in Wilfersdorf, he became a member of the local music association. In the year of accession, due to his ability and reliable cooperation, he was appointed deputy conductor and staff leader . Invited by Ernst Kellermann, he conducted the Wilfersdorf church choir at festive masses until 1980. Many young musicians were trained by him and promoted through his good connections. He was also an instructor and trainer at the Musikverein Kreuzstetten and a teacher and trainer for trombones in the young brass seminar in Laa under the direction of Anton Kornherr. Furthermore, he worked for many years in the district working group of the Lower Austrian Brass Music Association as deputy district conductor.

His many years of work and dedication have been recognized with honors and awards.
