history

Heinzenberg, presumably the name is derived from the male first name "Heintze", was first mentioned in 1355. The place was a customs post on the old trade route from Limburg ad Lahn to the Main and has probably always belonged to the court and parish of Grävenwiesbach. In addition to the actual village, the "Runkelsteiner Mühle" and the "Elendsmühle" (today: Utenhof) also belonged to Heinzenberg and also supplied the area with flour. In the period from 1909 to 1969, the railway also stopped in Heinzenberg on its Weiltalbahn route from Usingen to Weilmünster .

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the communities Heinzenberg and Grävenwiesbach and other communities voluntarily merged to form the community Grävenwiesbach on December 31, 1971.
