history
The Naunstadt area was already settled in prehistoric times. A Langorbad urn cemetery was discovered east of Naunstadt. Naunstadt itself emerged as well as Hundstadt and Mönstadt as an extension to Grävenwiesbach. The place is first mentioned in 1301 under the name "Nuvinstaide" (New Place). Between 1570 and 1659 the so-called "Kellerhof", a Nassau-Usingen warehouse, was located in Naunstadt.
The place was largely destroyed in a major fire in April 1826, with the rebuilding, the town center moved to the area around the old town hall . In 1841 a school was set up for the first time. School operations initially took place in the old town hall and later in a separate school building. The school has been closed since 1967, primary school-age children attend the Wiesbach School in Grävenwiesbach, and secondary classes take place in Usingen .
In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipalities of Naunstadt and Grävenwiesbach and other municipalities voluntarily merged to form the municipality of Grävenwiesbach on December 31, 1971.
The old town hall now serves as the clubhouse of the Gravenwiesbach bird protection group. The Naunstadt Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded in 1932 and is housed in the village community center.
