Reichenbach is a district of the municipality of Waldems in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .

The place is located in the eastern Hintertaunus of the Rhine-Taunus Nature Park . The federal highway 275 runs through the village .

history

Reichenbach was already settled in pre-Christian times. Then leaves a hill grave close. The ring wall "Burg" in the south suggests an early medieval settlement. The place is first mentioned in writing in 1428. At that time the place name was Richinbach . In 1604 a school was built, which also served this purpose until 1968. The nearby settlement of Liegenhausen is now a desert .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the municipality of Reichenbach was merged by law on August 1, 1972 with five neighboring municipalities from the Untertaunus district and the district of Usingen to form the new municipality of Waldems. As for every district, the main statute also established a local district with a local advisory council and local councilor for Reichenbach .

On February 6, 2020 Reichenbach was drawn as "Dolles Dorf" at Hessischer Rundfunk (HR). The shooting took place on February 7th, 2020, on February 8th, 2020 the broadcast took place in the Hessenschau of HR.
