Old school (from north)

The old school is the building of the former village school of Reichenbach im Taunus . The building was erected in 1902 on the so-called Backesberg , a rock spur free on three sides on the eastern edge of the village. Until 1968 the house was used for teaching purposes. Today it is used as a residential building. The listed building has the address Schulbergstraße 9.

history

A school is first recorded in Reichenbach in 1604, but it was closed during the Thirty Years' War . A new school was founded in 1692 and a new building was erected for it in 1721. In 1902 it was decided to build another new building.

The Backesberg served as the location. A small chapel had stood here between 1300 and the middle of the 15th century, which was probably demolished in the 18th century.
