Waldems coat of arms.png

The following list contains the cultural monuments identified in the monument topography in the area of the municipality of Waldems , Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis , Hesse .

Note: The order of the monuments in this list is based first on the districts and then on the address; alternatively, it can also be sorted according to the name, the number assigned by the State Office for Monument Preservation or the construction time.

The basis is the publication of the Hessian list of monuments, which was created for the first time on the basis of the Monument Protection Act of September 5, 1986 and has been continuously updated since then.

The presence or absence of an object in this list does not provide legally binding information as to whether it is a cultural monument or not: This list may not reflect the current status of the official monument topography. This is available for Hessen in the corresponding volumes of the monument topography of the Federal Republic of Germany and on the Internet under DenkXweb - Kulturdenkmäler in Hessen (under construction). Even though these sources are updated by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Hesse , they are not always up-to-date because there are always changes in the inventory of monuments.

Only the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments in Hesse can provide binding information .

hallway: 2, parcel: 181/4
Hakenhofreite at the former northern exit of the village, three-zone gable-independent residential building in a corner location. Street-side windows removed except for small gable openings. Due to the proportions with the eaves projecting projections, one can conclude that the timber-framing was from the 18th century. Younger half-timbered barn, connected to the main building by modern extensions. Residential building with a striking effect in the street scene due to its elevated position in the main street that climbs here. 14293

Three-zone building type from the 18th century, simple structural framework, storey-high struts on the gable side; plastered. Upper floor protruding towards the courtyard. Bermbach, Hauptstraße 26
Location
hallway: 2, parcel: 18
Closed courtyard with an idiosyncratic residential building from the 19th century: elongated eaves construction with hipped roof and covered courtyard entrance. Plastered half-timbered construction in “classical” proportions with regular window arrangement (on the upper floor with folding shutters) and knee-high with small square window openings. Above grated courtyard gate and door with gable-shaped wooden walls (here put on boards with coats of arms). Striking building due to its dimensions and structure. 14295

Bermbach, Hauptstrasse 29.jpg
Bermbach, Hauptstraße 29
Location
hall: 2, parcel: 171/6
Closed courtyard on a polygonal ground plan in the junction of the Idsteiner Weg. Gable-independent residential building set back behind a front garden, half-timbered around 1700, completely plastered. Barn also in the gable position, with construction date 1796 in the courtyard side lintel beam. The gate construction with a barred gate and other plastered, partly slated outbuildings go back to the 19th century. The homestead thus combines different building eras while preserving the traditional overall form. 14296

Bermbach, Hauptstraße 33
Location
hallway: 2, parcel: 113
Complete four-sided courtyard with house, barns, stables, outbuildings and courtyard gate. When it was repaired around 1980, some of the farm buildings were considerably modified and expanded. The half-timbered structure with regular strut figures and a profiled upper floor threshold over rounded beam heads goes back to the 18th century; the loft extension with knee-height, dwarf house and ornamental gable slate, like the roofed courtyard gate with grilles on top and decorated with fan rosettes and the front door with entrance stairs and wrought-iron railing, belong to the 19th century. The (not preserved) previous state showed plastering with corner blocks and ornamental bands with stencil painting (similar to side street 4). The extensive Hofreite is a defining part of the town center. 14297

hallway: 2, parcel: 108/5
Part of the entire secondary road system. Former teachers' house next to the school. Modestly dimensioned residential building that is striking due to its central location. Eaves, completely plastered half-timbered building with a street-side projecting floor. The proportions with low storey heights and steeply sloping roof allow the conclusion that it was built around 1700 with later changes in the window position. The house thus belongs to the older structure of the village center. 14298

The war memorial for the soldiers of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 is, like many other memorials for this war, designed as an obelisk with an iron cross , laurel wreath and eagle. It is located at its original location in the eastern part of the village on the Frankfurt-Limburg highway . The front inscription on the base reads: "In memory of the glorious campaign of 1870/71". On the right side of the base there is a plaque with the names of the members of the veterans' association who had the monument erected. On the left is a plaque with the names of those who took part in the war from Esch. The former fence made of iron bars has not been preserved. 14302

House and barn of a courtyard from the 17th / 18th centuries Century. The three-sided free-standing residential building, set back from the street in the gable position, shows a facade design typical of the region from the beginning of this century with plastered frame and corner blocks. The half-timbered structure from around 1700 below has largely been preserved. Corresponding barn standing separately, with construction date 1687 in the decorated lintel beam and old gate; rare in the district as a dated 17th century barn. 14301

Esch, Kirchgasse 1
Location
hallway: 3, parcel: 259
Former vicarage from 1686 at the beginning of the Kirchgasse that climbs towards the church. Elongated eaves construction with strongly dimensioned timber framing, richly profiled entablature zone and high quality carving. The ornamentation of the ornate bay that juts out flat on three sides - vine tendrils, twisted columns, consoles, masks, fish figures - is reminiscent of late Renaissance models in Idstein that were created before the Thirty Years War . The corner posts repeat three-dimensional motifs from the bay window. The former gateway with a basket arch and mask as the keystone was converted into a shop (with a modern extension on the side). Finely crafted, double-leaf front door from the early 19th century with classicist diamond and fan motifs, skylight and fittings. Above the inscription (remnants of a baroque door garment): “God sey vns gracious and bless us / Johan Conrad Ruger and Ana Elisabeta”, Conrad Rüger was a pastor in Esch. In addition to the former mayor's house from 1680 in Wallrabenstein, Burgstrasse 1, the most important village half-timbered building in the former Untertaunus district; as there is an afterlife of Idstein's timber-frame tradition after the Thirty Years' War. 1686 14303

Hakenhofreite in the eastern part of the village, at the former entrance to the town from Frankfurt-Limburger Straße. Gable-facing three-zone residential building, built in 1732 according to the inscription above the entrance. In the meantime heavily changed, restored in 1990 in its original form, exposing the half-timbering and reconstructing the gable. On the upper floor, male figures, threshold profile. Entrance on the courtyard side with sandstone stairs, inscription above the door: "God behits fir Fever vnd Brand / in God's protection I stand Carl Christ and Anna Rosina baven mich / 1732". Gate construction new. 14660

Esch, Schwalbacher Straße 7
Location
hallway: 3, parcel: 70/1
Two-zone residential building on the gable, plastered on the courtyard side, clad on the gable side with modern materials. The overhang of the storey on the eaves side and the position and size of the window openings allow the conclusion to be drawn that the timber-frame structure was mostly intact and built in the 18th century. The Hofreite is part of a relatively regular building structure made up of closely lined hooked courtyards that has been preserved in this street section; therefore of importance for street space and village development. 14661

Laterally high arched windows (partly covered by later additions). The entrance on the narrow side, which faces the street and is accentuated by a gable dwarf house, is flanked by two plane trees. Extensive four-sided courtyard at the through-town. The gable-free, fully clad half-timbered house dates back to the 18th century; the attic was renewed around 1900 with a roof protruding on carved struts. The subsequent striking gate construction with grating and tile roofing, as well as the small, massive, plastered outbuilding, were built in the 19th century. The fact that the residential building is exposed to the Schlabach creates a special urban development effect. 14309

Stately courtyard in the center of the village, particularly prominent due to its location in a bend in Schwalbacher Straße. Good half-timbering from the early 18th century, probably with decorative shapes, can be expected under the cladding of the house. The adjoining building at the rear is also covered. The large barn and another farm building show well-preserved half-timbering from around 1800. Important building complex with a view of the town hall and the former rectory at Kirchgasse 1. 14311

Solid construction with a square floor plan, projecting gable roof on struts. Plastered facade with stucco cornices and pilaster strips, decorated window frames and parapets. The horizontal division of the floors maintains the proportions of the half-timbered building, the ornament shows Art Nouveau influences. 14312

Elementary school Niederems, An der Linde 1

Village: 5, plot: 74/1
Built in 1952 in place of an 18th century school. Main class building with a right-angled toilet wing (changed by a later extension). Residential building with a gable roof, windows in the attic combined as bands; First floor window originally with cross-bars. The central entrance on the eaves, oriented towards the forecourt, is a dwarf risalit with an arched portal, which is emphasized by archaic buttresses and a staircase set off in the material. On the gable side flower bay windows on consoles and programmatic sgraffito (which appears isolated after repainting) on the topic: "We learn not for school, but for life." Natural stone wall with wooden slats as an enclosure. Example of the “landscape-related” conservative type of village school around 1950. 14314

The house was originally built in the early 17th century and was rebuilt and expanded in different eras. The eaves side framework was added around 1800. In the late 19th century, the roof was changed to its present-day form with a knee and overhang on carved struts, and the gate structure was supplemented with symmetrical grating over two man gates. 14665
