The Riedelbacher Heide is a nature reserve in Riedelbach im Taunus ( eastern Hintertaunus ) in the Hochtaunus district .

The Riedelbacher Heide is located northwest of Riedelbach in the eastern Hintertaunus, on the so-called Feldberg-Langhals-Pferdskopf-Scholle ( Pferdskopf-Taunus ). The nature reserve is at an altitude of 510 and 525  m , east of Rennstraße .

Reachable is the Riedel Bacher heath of the trail parking lot Kräuzerstein the Taunus Nature Park, at the national road 275 or from the parking lot of the gliding site Riedelbach on Riedel Bacher sports field.

The nature reserve

The nature reserve with a size of 8.44 hectares was placed under protection in 1969.

The Riedelbacher Heide is located above the village between the Riedelbacher glider airfield and the forest.

The Riedelbacher Heide was created through intensive grazing. After the Second World War , the automation of agriculture made cultivation of these areas uneconomical. They were left to their own devices and developed a variety of plants worth protecting. However, they are still cultural landscapes that would disappear without human intervention. Without human intervention, the meadows would become overgrown and turn into a forest over time. An environment group from the Local Agenda 21 Weilrod takes care of the maintenance of the site.
