Marble stone

The marble stone is a rock formation in the Taunushauptkamm east of the Roßkopf between Bad Homburg and Wehrheim . There was a nature reserve around the rocks from 1928 to 1994 .

description

The rock group of the marble stone consists of Taunus quartzite and is located between Herzberg and Saalburgpass at an altitude of 444 to 460  m above sea level. NHN above the König-Wilhelms-Weg. The marbled color of the quartzite is, according to Hermin, Mr. Grund for the name. The marble stone has been a popular excursion destination since the 19th century and can also be easily combined with a climb to the Herzberg Tower (restaurant) and a visit to the Saalburg (bus stop, museum, country inn & parking spaces). Not far away are the Nymphenquelle on the Emesberg and the Jupiter column .

Nature reserve

The nature reserve with a size of eleven hectares was placed under protection in 1928. Protection was lifted in 1994.
