Chestnuts in the Stuhlberg nature reserve

The Stuhlberg nature reserve was a nature reserve ( bird sanctuary ) near Kronberg im Taunus .

description

The nature reserve with a size of 19.1 hectares was placed under protection in 1966. It was in the district of Kronberg Oberhöchstadt north of the village at an altitude between about 210 and 238 meters above sea level and was traversed by the Stuhlbergbach .

The area is densely overgrown with trees and bushes and obviously strongly influenced by humans. In the valley floor there are fragments of a brook and alluvial forest, and oak and hornbeam mixed stands on the slopes. A nice group of chestnuts is worth mentioning. The edge zones are mostly overgrown with impenetrable hedges. Botanically the area is of little interest. However, it includes a species-rich bird life and is therefore primarily important as a bird sanctuary.

With the ordinance repealing the ordinance on the nature reserve (bird sanctuary) "Stuhlberg" of October 10, 1983, the protection status was revoked.
