The Kirdorfer Feld near Bad Homburg is a cultural landscape in Kirdorf , a district of Bad Homburg vor der Höhe , about 160  hectares in size. A partial area of ​​approx. 133 hectares is a combined nature and landscape protection area .

The nature and landscape reserve

The nature reserve with a size of 55.33 hectares was placed under protection on October 17, 1996. With the same ordinance, an area of ​​around 78 hectares was designated as a landscape protection area. In total, around 133 hectares are protected.

The nature reserve includes the wet meadow areas and the adjacent orchard meadows . The landscape protection area essentially comprises orchards, arable land and grassland in the districts "Northern and Southern New Pieces", "Middle and Upper Lazarius Field", "Im Hainloch", "The Gänsewiese", "Am Sauplacken", "Small Calf Tail", "The Krummestück "And" Lower and Upper Heidfeld ".

The Kirdorfer Feld represents a historical cultural landscape characterized by species-rich meadow communities. The high proportion of litter and the wet meadows with their fallow land, small rivers and springs are the characteristic elements of this area that shape the landscape.

Since the meadow communities in the Kirdorfer Feld are of supraregional importance, the Kirdorfer Feld has also been designated as a fauna-flora-habitat area ( FFH area ) by the Natura 2000 ordinance of the State of Hesse.

The service in the Kirdorfer Feld

A rare specimen of the service tree was placed under protection as a natural monument in the Kirdorfer Feld . At the age of around 70, the solitary tree had a trunk circumference of around 2.20 m, a height of 17 m and a crown circumference of 22 m. The tree had to be felled in spring 2001.

The Kirdorfer Feld interest group

In 2006 the Kirdorfer Feld interest group was founded to promote the preservation of the area.
