Schmittröder meadows
The Schmittröder Wiesen (also Schmidtröder Wiesen ) are a nature reserve in Königstein im Taunus in the Hochtaunus district .
The nature reserve
The nature reserve with a size of 22.72 hectares was placed under protection in 1977.
The Schmittröter Wiesen are located above the B8 at the level of the Billtalhöhe car park . Shortly before Eselseck, the boundary of the nature reserve bends from the B8 parallel to state road 3025 towards Feldberg. A few hundred meters further, the boundary runs downhill again, parallel to the long path.
The field name
Hermin Herr interprets the field name as "meadow cleared by blacksmiths", ie as the place of a forest smithy. Otto Stamm reports on slag heaps in the area and a cannon foundry that has been there since 1470.
