Altenberger Strasse (Wetzlar)

The Altenberger Straße district is the 9th district of the central Hessian city of Wetzlar . It is located between the Neustadt district on the other side of the Dill in the east and the Dalheim district in the northwest. In the southwest the Lahn forms a natural border. The district is named after Altenberger Straße , which runs through the district from west to east.

Location description

Altenberger Straße was created from a workers' settlement in the 1920s and 1930s on the outskirts of Wetzlar. Today it is shaped by many single-family houses and social housing. There are several retail stores and restaurants in the district. The Wetzlar riding and driving club and the tennis club are also domiciled here. The Wetzlar city cleaning service is also located here.

Infrastructure

The only bus stop Am Trauar is served by the city buses of the Wetzlar transport company as well as two long-distance bus routes. The Lahntalbahn runs through the district and crosses Altenberger Strasse with a level crossing, which often leads to long backlogs. The Wetzlar-Dalheim exit from Bundesstraße 49 is north of Altenberger Straße and can be reached quickly. The own exit from the B 49 was dropped when it was expanded in 2009.
