Blasbach is the smallest district of the district town of Wetzlar in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse .
geography
Blasbach is in the north of the city and has about 950 inhabitants. The place name is derived from the water of the same name, which flows into the Dill .
history
The oldest known mention was in the Lorsch Codex : Probably in 787 an Eberhard or Ebur in Blasbach donated the church with a mansus , a hat , four servants and another mansus to the Lorsch monastery . In 1150 Adalbert and his sons Friedrich and Konrad donated serfs from Blasbach to the Schiffenberg monastery . In 1246 a Siegfried von Blasbach appears as a witness in a document from the Schiffenberg monastery. In the course of the Solms partition treaty of 1432, Blasbach came to Count Johann von Solms . Until the 19th century, the mining and smelting of iron ore was an important industry in the town. To this day, Blasbach has remained a predominantly rural district.
Territorial reform
In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Blasbach became a district of Hermannstein on December 31, 1971 on a voluntary basis .
On January 1, 1977, the city of Lahn emerged from the two cities of Gießen and Wetzlar and 21 surrounding communities, including Hermannstein . When it was dissolved on July 31, 1979, Hermannstein and Blasbach became districts of Wetzlar.

- The crime novelist Wolfgang Borchers has his first novel set in Blasbach (Wolfgang Borchers: Mord in Blasbach. Detective chief inspector Leo Trinkau's first case. 2nd edition 2003).

Economy and Infrastructure
Blasbach is reached by bus line 415 of the Lahn Dill transport association every 30, 60 or 120 minutes and has a connection to the A 480 and the A 45 via the Wetzlarer Kreuz . If you leave the place to the north, you get to Hohenahr .
The place has a Protestant church . There is a kindergarten at educational institutions; the closest school is the Hermannstein Elementary School. In addition, Blasbach has a volunteer fire brigade and, with the Blasbach home parlor, its own local museum and various associations.
South of the village, near the Wetzlarer Kreuz, is a test track for truck tolls in Germany . The multi-lane road used as a test route was actually the continuation of the 480 motorway in the direction of Giessen.
