history

The district of Erda was first mentioned in the year 771, but it can be assumed that the district of Altenkirchen with its much older church is a few years older than Erda and was not mentioned earlier only because of its size. In the 14th century, built Counts of Solms , the castle Hohensolms .

The municipality of Hohenahr was created on April 1, 1972 as part of the regional reform in Hesse through the voluntary amalgamation of the municipalities of Erda , Hohensolms and Ahrdt . On July 1, 1972, Großaltenstädten was also incorporated into Hohenahr on a voluntary basis . Economy and Infrastructure

energy

A solar park was set up on the site of the former NATO tank terminal Erda in 2011 and went into operation in December of that year. The solar park covers an area of ​​16.2 hectares and consists of 17,040 modules with a total nominal output of 3.91 MW . Furthermore, between 2012 and 2013 a wind farm was built near Altenberg near Hohensolms , consisting of seven 198.5 meter high wind turbines of the Nordex N117 / 2400 type . These should generate around 44 million kWh of electricity per year , which corresponds to the consumption of around 12,500 households.
