Erda is the largest district of the Hohenahr community in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse . The village is the seat of the municipal administration and has around 2000 inhabitants.
Geographical location
Erda is located within the Gladenbacher Bergland in the south of the Lahn-Dill-Bergland Nature Park . Neighboring towns are Wilsbach in the north, Frankenbach in the east, Königsberg and Hohensolms in the south, Großaltenstädten in the south-west, Mudersbach in the north-north-west and Roßbach in the north-west. The state road L 3376 runs through the village, which is traversed by the eastern Dill tributary Aar ( Aarbach ) .
history
The fact that the area around today's Erda was settled at an early age can be seen from a ring wall to the northwest of the village near the source of the Aar .
In the year 771 the village is mentioned for the first time in a deed of donation from the Lorsch monastery . The name Erda is generally derived from Aarbach. In the old documents it appears as Erdahe or Ardahe. 1000 Erda belonged to Centgericht old churches , which the Roman Catholic Diocese of Speyer shelter. The first church was mentioned in 1246. It was built on the ruins of an old chapel as a fortified church . In 1294 and 1305, the Counts of Solms bought shares from the lords of Bicken and Calsmunt from the income of the court, so that from about this point on the Erda area gradually came under Solms rule.
Territorial reform
As part of the regional reform in Hesse , the previously independent municipality of Erda merged on April 1, 1972 on a voluntary basis with the municipalities of Hohensolms and Ahrdt to form the newly founded municipality of Hohenahr. For Erda, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory council and community leader was established. The district of Erda became the seat of the municipal administration.
