Altenburgwarte
The Altenburgwarte is a lookout tower 700 meters southwest of the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .
The control room is part of the Quedlinburg waiting and ditch system and is located on one of the highest points (around 198 meters) of a sandstone ridge called the Altenburg.
The original control room in the form of a round tower about five meters thick came from the 14th or 15th century. From the weathered remains, the Harz Club built a new tower in 1889, which, after several restorations, is now used as a ten-meter high pentagonal observation tower with a spiral staircase, the platform of which can be reached via 51 steps.
