Seevorstadt-Ost retirement home

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Seevorstadt-Ost retirement home was Dresden's first retirement home to be rebuilt after the Second World War and was located on Mary-Wigman-Strasse 1a in Dresden. Today there is a new building on the same site that houses the Bürgerwiese senior citizen center.

description

The building complex was built on the Bürgerwiese between 1959 and 1960 . Kurt Röthig and Heinz Berndt were in charge of urban planning . The designs came from the architect Gerd Dettmar , Wolfgang Hänsch and collective.

Three ward houses with 452 beds belong to the building complex of the old people's home and had received an old pink spray plaster . These were arranged in a south-west-north-east direction in order to obtain an “optimal residential complex facing Parkstrasse”. The buildings were designed in a “traditional way” with “ loggia facades ” with “vertical concrete slats”. The long sides of the loggias were painted white.

A gray and white hall has a culture and dining room, which was designed as a community center for the residential area and has 420 people. Another building is the administration building. All buildings are connected by corridors with pergolas .

Two sea lions made of diabase on a terrazzo pool with a pipe fountain, created by Susanne Voigt in 1960, adorned the site.

Since the spatial conditions no longer met the requirements of a modern care facility, today's Alloheim Senioren-Zentrum Bürgerwiese was built in 2004/2005 and the old buildings were left to decay. At the beginning of 2006, the first residents moved into the new building. The architectural concept of the new building, which offers 96 care places, is "based on the principles of the classical architectural structure characterized by harmony. Clarity, simplicity, wholeness, harmony, coherence, artistic diversity, etc. are the sensual and moral maxims of the Enlightenment, which correspond to the spiritual principle of the architectural conception.
