Former slaughterhouse in Landshut

The old slaughterhouse in Landshut , the capital of the Lower Bavaria administrative district , was built in 1905. The former municipal slaughterhouse at Stethaimerstraße 29, at the corner of Schlachthofstraße 47, is a protected architectural monument .

The building ensemble consists of the following parts:

  • Two-storey administration building with a mansard roof with Art Nouveau elements , the furnishings of the director's room from the time of construction have been preserved
  • multi-storey tower with a steep hipped roof
  • Drive-through and loading hall, a two-storey hall with a segment-arched roof over wooden trusses, structural elements of the walls and tower-like facade pillars in sight, e.g. T. ornamental masonry, with plastered fields, both gables are glazed, the south gable is marked with the municipal slaughterhouse .

After its renovation and redesign as well as the addition of a total of 3 new modern buildings, from 2005 to around 2010, the old slaughterhouse transit hall was only used as a market hall "LA Markt" for 13 months from the end of 2006, but the concept failed due to errors by the developer and underfunding , which led to the accusation of delaying insolvency already in the construction phase. A food provider has been located in the old slaughterhouse drive-through hall since 2018. The new surrounding buildings have been occupied by apartments, offices and commercial providers since 2006. In Schlachthofstrasse 47 there is only one successful business from the beginning of 2006, a German specialty shop for gift baskets, wine, spirits and delicacies from the family business Barrique.
