Joseph "Joe" Lolley (born August 25, 1992 in Redditch ) is an English football player who has been under contract with the EFL Championship club Nottingham Forest since January 2018 .

Career

Lolley started playing football at Birmingham City before joining the Bromsgrove Rovers youth team in 2008 . In 2011 he joined FC Littleton , which made it to eleventh-class Division One of the Midland Football Combination in the preseason . In two years he scored 88 goals in 83 games and contributed significantly to promotion to tenth grade in his first season. In July 2013, Lolley signed a one-year contract with the Conference Premier club Kidderminster Harriers . In his last league appearance against Salisbury City , he also scored a hat trick . In his last game in the FA Cup against third division team Peterborough United , he scored the decisive goal to make it 3-2, which enabled his team to surprisingly advance to the fourth main round. Shortly before, Kidderminster received a transfer offer for Lolley from Peterborough, which he refused.

On January 15, 2014, he finally moved to the Football League Championship club Huddersfield Town and was thus in six months from the tenth division to the second highest English division. The transfer fee for the winger was € 360,000. On February 1, he made his debut in the championship in a 5-1 loss to Leeds United . On the last day of the 2013/14 season , he scored his first time for the Terriers in a 4-1 win against Watford FC . In his first half year he was used in six league games in which he scored a goal. In its second year 2014/15 it was only used irregularly. In his 17 league appearances, in which he was able to score two goals, he usually only came into the game in the final phase

On September 25, 2015, Joe Lolley moved to Scunthorpe United in a loan shop . After six missions and one template, he returned to Huddersfield on November 1st. After his return, he rose at Huddersfield to the regular player, who get four goals and two assists in 32 missions. However, the ascent of Lolleys was stopped in the following season 2016/17 by a serious foot injury, which left him out for four months. It wasn't until the beginning of 2017 that he made his comeback for the Terriers in a 1-0 away win against Wigan Athletic . He scored his only goal of the season on February 14 in a 3-2 away win at Rotherham United . Huddersfield was promoted to the Premier League this season under the direction of David Wagner . In the 2017/18 season , he made his Premier League debut on Matchday 16, when he came on in the 87th minute in a 2-0 home win against Brighton & Hove Albion . By the end of January he came on five more missions, in which he also scored a goal in the game against West Ham United .

On the deadline day of the January transfer phase 2018, Lolley moved to the second division Nottingham Forest , where he signed a four and a half year contract. He made his debut for his new club on February 10, 2018 against Hull City . He scored his first goal on February 24 in a 5-2 away win over Queens Park Rangers and scored again in the next game against Birmingham City. In the further course of the 2017/18 season , he scored another goal. In the following 2018/19 season he became an essential regular for the Reds . In October he scored three goals and prepared two more. In the furious 5-5 draw against Aston Villa on November 28, 2018, he netted once and did the preparatory work for the other four hits. Lolley closed the season with twelve goals and as many assists. He was used in all 51 competitive games Forests. Due to his strong performances, he was voted Player of the Season by supporters of the Reds .

Under the new head coach Sabri Lamouchi , he was still considered the best player on the Garibaldi Reds offensive in the following season 2019/20 , but could not quite reach his quota from the previous season. With the team he took on the promotion battle early on and they stayed in the top 6 of the table for almost the entire season. On July 1, 2020 (40th matchday), Lolley played his 100th league game for Nottingham Forest in a 1-0 home win against Bristol City . Due to a weak phase at the end of the season, there was still a risk of falling out of the play-off positions on the last matchday. Seventh-placed Swansea City had a point gap of three points and a worse goal difference before the last game. With a 4-1 home defeat against Stoke City , Nottingham Forest was actually overtaken by the Welsh, as they won their game against Reading FC 4-1.
